Xing`an
county which is located in the North of Guilin, is an important part of Guilin touring zones. It has got the most ancient water conservancy project-the Ling Canal. And it has got the highest peak of the South of China-Mao¡¯er Hill. And it has got the largest scale entertainment scenery zone of the South of China-Merryland. It is a pity if you don¡¯t goto Xing¡¯an when traveling in Guilin.

Ling Canal
In 214 BC (the time when the construction of the Great Wall was begun), Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, ordered the excavation of the Ling canal. Thereafter, the obstructing Five Ridges gave way to this convenient waterway. Northern civilization came all the way down through the canal and then to the Li River to Guilin, creating a unique culture of Guilin in combination with the aboriginal culture. The building of the canal made Guilin become an important town, a connection between the southern-most part of China and the central area of the country in ancient times. Ling Canal is the oldest canal in the world and is one of the three ancient Chinese Grand Irrigation Works. It is the embodiment of the Chinese people.
Cat Mountain also called Maoer Mountain, covers 481sq.km and has an altitude at the summit of 2141.5 meters. It is named Cat Mountain because people believe it looks like a cat. It is the highest mountain in south China and also the cradle land of Li River . The mountains here are grand and glorious and the scenery is magnificent. It is a nice combination of the glory of Mt. Tai , the steepness of Mt. Hua and the tranquility of Mt. Emei . Endangered species of vegetation, elfin woods and hemlock are found on the slopes of Cat Mountain . This is a great place to explore.
Guilin Merryland World is a project built by Mr. Ma Zhi Lin. This project was planned an in 1992 and built in 1997. It is situated in Xinan about an hour from Guilin and covers an area of more than one thousand mu. Merry land is a high tech high-tech amusement park, 5 star Hotel and Gold Course Complex.

The ceiling of the hotels hall is made of wood and decorated in the style of Guangxi minorities. The whole ceiling is made up of six woody shelves with typical ancient architecture and traditional craftsmanship. A Tongs bell tower and a copper drum is at the center of the hall.
